Overall Aim
We hope that students will gain the ability, understanding and confidence in themselves to take on what has been taught to them to go away and practice to improve and excel in their hairbraiding and natural hairstyling skills
Students will learn:

Health and Safety and the best practices whilst in different settings

Appropriate tools and equipment when styling clients or their Hair

Correct hand positioning to achieve the desired hairstyle

The fundamental concept of 3 strand plaiting technique

Simple cornrows designs

How to work with different hair texture

How to gain confidence in themselves to do and achieve the desired hairstyle
Courses
At Nurture Academy, we teach how to master the techniques required for braiding and the elements it takes to achieve an intended style.
We have taught people to braid for many years, and it's our experience in doing, so that has helped us to package our courses/workshops to meet the needs of our learners. We deliver this through:
Our intermediate course will be right for people who already can braid but want to develop their standard and achieve intricate styles.
Intermediate
This level has been carefully prepared for professional braiding stylists who already know the fundamentals of braiding and have perfected braiding techniques and styles.
This is the Business element of our courses; it is where the professional is put through business training to go on to work in a hairdressing establishment or run their own hair business. Trainees undergo a series of tuition focused around all aspects of running a business. Tuition consists of customer care, pricing, legal requirements and much more.
Courses run all year round consecutively so that learners can go through all three levels if they wish. We also run regular one-day workshops. After these courses, learners will have accreditation which can go towards further hairdressing education, to begin their businesses or harness a lifelong skill to develop, continue and pass on.

THEN THIS TRAINING IS FOR YOU!

REQUIREMENTS
Training last 3 months, 1 day a week, 3 hours per session.
You are required to attend all training sessions and do an assessment in order to complete the training.
Once trained you will then be ready and equipped to work with Nurture Academy for a period of 6 months on a PAID role where you will be required to teach and train others to do hair either through one 2 one or group sessions. This will take place online and in- house sessions
MENTORING
WORKSHOP
We do our best to equip all our trainees. That's why as part of our Train A trainer programme, we assign each trainee to a mentor to help them through the process of becoming a Trainer.
Over the 3 months of training the trainee meets with their mentor fortnightly until they have finished the programme. This provides additional support to the trainees to ensure their succeed in completing the programme.

COMMUNITY HAIR ART
PROJECT

Hair Discrimination in the media is currently a big issue and many young people have been affected by it. Nurture Academy, with the help of others within the community, wants to help and raise awareness around this topic by allowing young people to tell their stories through art painting of themselves.
We nurture and empower YOU to feel confident to train and teach others this skill. Ultimately growing a community of people who can pass these skills on to the next generation.

Mission:
Nurture Academy is a Social Enterprise based in East London. We work with children, young people, and adults to provide several different services under one umbrella.

Target Audience:
Our project engages with schools, youth and community centers, and art students from various organizations within local communities. We strive to involve individuals at the local, national, and global levels, fostering a sense of unity and understanding.

Artwork Consent:
To ensure the protection and respect of our young artists, Nurture Academy requires parental or guardian consent for displaying and exhibiting their artwork at different venues and locations. We prioritize the well-being and consent of all participants.

Marketing and Sales:
As a commitment to the future of our young artists, a percentage of each merchandise purchase will be deposited into a trust fund or bank account dedicated to the respective individual. This initiative empowers students by providing them with financial support and encouraging their artistic journey.
Exhibition:
Nurture Academy will organize a comprehensive tour, showcasing the exceptional artwork created by our students. The exhibition will be held at selected venues in different boroughs, allowing for a wider audience to experience the talent and stories expressed through art.
Pop-up Tour:
In addition to our curated exhibitions, we will host pop-up tours where students' artwork will be displayed for the general public. These events offer opportunities for engagement, interaction, and appreciation of the artistic expressions, fostering dialogue and understanding in the broader community.
